General PSYCHOTHERAPIES:

GESTALT PSYCHOTHERAPY

Gestalt psychotherapy is a holistic method of psychotherapy that involves looking at people as a unified whole that is more than the sum of their individual parts. The purpose of Gestalt psychotherapy is to increase the awareness of the client. Once a person has better awareness of the means to heal, their self-actualizing tendency will naturally cause this to occur.

PSYCHOTHERAPIES SPECIFIC FOR Healing TRAUMA:

Cognitive PROCESSING Therapy (CPT)

CPT is a type of Cognitive Therapy that is one of the highest rated treatments for trauma and PTSD. Trauma can result in incorrect beliefs, which are never logically examined, due to the extreme pain that occurs when thinking about the trauma events. Using CPT, problematic cognitive appraisals are identified and restructured, allowing a person to accept trauma that has occurred and begin to heal from it.

At Healing Solutions Psychotherapy, we care about results! Everything we do is designed to help our clients achieve the healing they deserve. We use psychotherapeutic techniques proven to be more effective than average. We prefer to work with clients and tailor a treatment plan specific to their individual needs. Here are some of the psychotherapies that we use:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is considered one of the gold standards of psychotherapy due to it’s high effectiveness. Difficult emotions are hard to control. CBT is a method of gaining awareness and control over thoughts and behaviours, which in turn allows greater control over emotions as well.

PROLONGED EXPOSURE THERAPY (PE)

Trauma memories are often remembered as emotionally charged, jumbled fragments, and not as a coherent narrative. PE therapy gradually, gently, and safely exposes the client to their trauma memories through memory and dialogue. Over time the emotional intensity of the trauma decreases, a proper narrative is formed, and the trauma begins to heal.

CLIENT-CENTRED PSYCHOTHERAPY

Client-centred psychotherapy is a non-directive method of psychotherapy that focuses on providing the core components of healing through a strong therapeutic relationship. This best occurs with a genuine, congruent therapist offering unconditional positive regard, warm acceptance, and who is empathically receptive to the client’s perceived reality.

SOLUTION-FOCUSED BRIEF PSYCHOTHERAPY (SFBT)

SFBT is a method of psychotherapy that is focused on getting quick and effective results. SBFT is time-efficient and applicable to a wide variety of client goals.
